It’s here: fresh news, dental tips, and insights

What’s the Difference Between Regular and Deep Dental Cleaning?
A regular dental cleaning is preventive care designed to remove plaque, tartar, and surface stains from the teeth, primarily above the gumline. It is typically recommended for patients with generally healthy gums and helps prevent cavities, gingivitis, and other oral health problems.
A deep dental cleaning, also called scaling and root planing, is used when bacteria and tartar have accumulated below the gumline and signs of gum disease are present. The treatment cleans deeper around the teeth and smooths the root surfaces to help the gums heal and reattach more effectively.
How do I know which cleaning I need?
Your dentist or dental hygienist will evaluate your gums, measure periodontal pockets, review X-rays when appropriate, and check for signs such as bleeding, inflammation, tartar buildup, and bone loss. A deep cleaning is not simply a more thorough version of a regular cleaning it is a treatment recommended when periodontal disease requires additional care.
At Denteast in Fort Lauderdale, we personalize dental hygiene and periodontal care based on your individual oral health rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
