TMJ Treatment, 5 to 10 minutes from Dorsey-Riverbend. A custom night guard is often recommended to protect the teeth and help manage symptoms.

If you are waking up with a sore jaw or a headache, or your jaw clicks when you open it, that is worth having looked at rather than living with.

The temporomandibular joints connect your lower jaw to your skull and work every time you eat or speak. When the joints or the muscles around them are strained, it turns up as jaw pain or tenderness, clicking and popping, headaches, facial discomfort, difficulty opening fully, and grinding or clenching at night.

The evaluation looks at your teeth, your bite, how the jaw moves and what you are actually feeling. A custom night guard is often the recommendation: it protects your teeth from grinding and takes load off the joint. That means an assessment visit and a fitting, plus an adjustment if it does not sit right, all short trips from Dorsey-Riverbend.

For some patients Botox into the overactive muscles is considered as well.

What Is Biomimetic Dentistry?

At Denteast, we believe that the best dentistry often means preserving what nature has already created. That’s the foundation of biomimetic dentistry—a modern, science-based approach that focuses on conserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible while restoring strength, function, and aesthetics.

The word biomimetic means “to imitate nature.” Rather than removing large portions of a tooth to fit a restoration, biomimetic dentistry aims to repair damaged teeth in a way that closely replicates their original structure, flexibility, and performance. Every tooth is unique, and our goal is to help it function as naturally as possible for years to come.

This approach shapes every treatment we provide, from a single filling to a full restoration. Read how biomimetic dentistry works and why it matters for your teeth.

Treatment of TMJ at Denteast, Fort Lauderdale

Jaw pain, tension, headaches, or persistent teeth grinding can affect more than your smile—they can interfere with sleep, eating, speaking, and everyday comfort. At Denteast in Fort Lauderdale, we take a personalized approach to evaluating and managing TMJ-related concerns.

The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) connect your lower jaw to your skull and play an essential role in everyday jaw movement. When these joints or surrounding muscles become strained, symptoms may include jaw pain or tenderness, clicking or popping, headaches, facial discomfort, difficulty opening or closing the mouth, and teeth grinding or clenching.

Treatment begins with an evaluation of your teeth, bite, jaw movement, symptoms, and individual needs. Depending on the findings, Denteast may recommend a custom-made night guard to help protect your teeth from the effects of grinding and clenching while reducing stress on the jaw. For selected patients, additional treatment options may be considered based on the source and severity of their symptoms.

At Denteast, our goal is not simply to manage discomfort, but to understand what may be contributing to it and develop a thoughtful treatment plan around you. For patients from Dorsey-Riverbend, regular dental visits, often around every six months, can help maintain healthy teeth and gums and identify potential concerns before they become more serious.

About Dorsey-Riverbend

Historic Dorsey Riverbend is a centrally located Fort Lauderdale neighborhood with deep community roots and convenient access to Sistrunk Boulevard, Downtown, and major transportation corridors.
Denteast is only a short drive from Dorsey Riverbend, offering residents a nearby option for personalized general, cosmetic, and restorative dental care.

Dorsey-Riverbend is a historic neighbourhood in northwest Fort Lauderdale, bounded roughly by Sistrunk Boulevard, Broward Boulevard and the North Fork of the New River. It takes its name in part from Dorsey, one of the city’s oldest African-American communities, and the area holds a good deal of Fort Lauderdale’s civil rights history — the Sistrunk corridor was the commercial and cultural spine of Black Fort Lauderdale for most of the twentieth century. The neighbourhood is largely single-family and low-rise, with the river forming its western edge and Home Beautiful Park providing green space at the centre. Sistrunk Boulevard has seen sustained reinvestment over the last decade. Downtown Fort Lauderdale sits directly to the southeast, a few minutes along Broward Boulevard or Northwest Seventh Avenue.
